FINAL REFLECTION

What have I learnt in this module?
In this module, I gained a deeper understanding of design fundamentals and learned how to effectively apply those principles to create a good composition. In addition, I have learned about the different stages involved in creating a design. Research always serves as the basis for the design process, which then processes idea exploration and countless attempts at design. Though the entire process may be tiring, I believe it is valuable as each step takes one closer to the final creation.

What did I enjoy the most?
I've been looking forward to and enjoying the feedback sessions with Ms Jin Chi the most throughout this module. Ms Jin Chi's constructive criticism and feedback have been very instructive and useful in assisting me to improve my work. In addition to this, we have the freedom to choose whatever medium we want for each task. It enables us to explore more thoroughly the potential results of our ideas and select the ones that are most suitable for the design.

What did I not enjoy the most?
Adhering to the deadlines is the aspect I do not enjoy the most, especially when we were assigned weekly tasks. It was challenging to brainstorm ideas and produce designs on a weekly basis. However, I would establish a time limit for completing the work on time. Also, I liked the design but not the writing, particularly when documenting the design process on blogger, and wasn’t sure the intended meaning was clear. Yet, I did improve at writing throughout the week.

What have I learnt about myself through this module?
This module has given me opportunities to learn about myself, which encouraged me to express my authentic self and understand design. Further, I've observed that practically every design element in my design works has a message or significance that I ascribe to it. What I like and find interesting about art is that different people can have different perspectives and viewpoints about the same artwork. The more we relate to an artwork, the closer the connection we feel to it.

What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
What has changed in my learning journey was my confidence in creating design. I get more assured in carrying out my ideas as I became more confident over the past few weeks. What has not changed was the bad habit of procrastination. I tend to run away from the tasks, it is only till the last minute I attend to them. Although I present my work on time, I should get rid of this bad habit and learn time management.

What could be improved in this module?
From my perspective, I think there isn't anything in this module that needs to be improved. The module learning outcomes are well-informed and the instructions provided in the Module Information Booklet and by the lecturer are clear and comprehensive. Besides that, the learning materials provided on myTimes and Microsoft Teams are sufficient and helpful for me to understand each task. All in all, I had a great learning experience and gained a great deal of knowledge in completing this module.
